Vijay Varma’s much‑anticipated series Matka King will arrive on Prime Video on April 17. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Nagraj Manjule — known for Fandry, Sairat, and Jhund — the show is created and written by Abhay Koranne and features an ensemble cast including Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Siddharth Jadhav, Bhupendra Jadawat, and Gulshan Grover.
The story centers on Brij Bhatti, a sharp cotton trader played by Varma, who strives for legitimacy and respect in the rapidly evolving world of 1960s Bombay. Against the backdrop of bustling markets, crowded chawls, and shifting power structures, his ambitious idea transforms into a phenomenon that draws in people across social classes. As dreams expand and risks intensify, the narrative unfolds into a gripping saga of ambition, power, and belonging.
