Rajkummar Rao’s Toaster Tantrum: Netflix Sparks Chaos with Sanya Malhotra

This dark comedy, directed by Vivek Das Chaudhary, promises a quirky, unpredictable ride as a simple obsession spirals out of control.

Netflix has dropped the trailer for its upcoming dark comedy Toaster, teasing a quirky tale where penny-pinching spirals into pure mayhem. Frontlined by Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra, the film promises sharp humor and unexpected twists as one man’s frugality sets off a chain of chaos. The much‑anticipated release is slated for April 15.

Helmed by Vivek Das Chaudhary and backed by Patralekhaa under the banner of Kampa Film, Toaster dives into the eccentric life of Ramakant—a man whose obsession with thrift knows no bounds. Rajkummar Rao steps into the role of this unapologetic miser, convinced that every rupee saved is a personal victory. But his rigid outlook takes a bizarre turn when a wedding gift—a humble toaster—goes unused, sparking a mission to reclaim it.
What begins as a seemingly trivial errand quickly snowballs into a series of messy, unpredictable events. Ramakant’s refusal to let go of what he’s spent money on entangles not just himself but everyone around him, creating a whirlwind of confusion and comic chaos.
The film boasts a powerhouse ensemble, with Archana Puran Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Farah Khan, Upendra Limaye, Vinod Rawat, Jitendra Joshi, and Seema Pahwa adding their own quirks to the narrative, enriching its layered humor and escalating tension.

Speaking about the project, Rajkummar Rao shared, “This film is very close to my heart as it’s the first under our production house, Kampa Film, with Patralekhaa producing. What fascinated me about Toaster is how something so small can consume a person’s mind. Ramakant truly believes he’s being practical, not extreme—and that sincerity turning into chaos is what makes the story so engaging. Working with such an incredible cast and collaborating with Netflix again has been a joy. They’ve always supported fresh voices, and this time I’m thrilled to be part of the journey both on and off screen
