Aamir Khan Stands Firm: No Title Change for Sunny Deol’s Lahore 1947

Aamir Khan Confirms Sunny Deol’s Lahore 1947 Retains Original Title; Rajkumar Santoshi Directorial to Release on August 13, 2026 with Preity Zinta in Key Role.

Speculation over a possible title change for Sunny Deol’s much-awaited film Lahore 1947 has finally been put to rest. Producer Aamir Khan has clarified that the project will continue with its original name, dismissing talk of any renaming.
The Rajkumar Santoshi-directed period drama, produced under Aamir Khan Productions, has been building strong buzz among audiences. Recent chatter suggested the makers were considering calling it Batwara 1947 to avoid controversy. However, when asked by senior journalist Subhash K Jha, Aamir firmly denied the rumours, confirming that Lahore 1947 remains unchanged.

Responding to speculation, Aamir Khan made it clear: “No, the title of our film has not changed. As of now, it is Lahore 1947, and that’s how I would like it to be.”
The Sunny Deol starrer, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, is locked for a theatrical release on August 13, 2026—timed perfectly ahead of the Independence Day weekend. With Kartik Aaryan’s Naagzilla reportedly pushed back, Lahore 1947 currently enjoys a relatively clear release window, adding to the anticipation surrounding the project.
