Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has started shooting for his upcoming project, ‘Pralay’. The film began its principal photography on August 16, 2026, in Mumbai. ‘Pralay’ will be a survival thriller and a post-apocalyptic end of the world tale helmed by Jai Mehta. Kalyani Priyadarshan has also boarded the film to play an important role opposite Ranveer Singh.

Shooting commences in Mumbai

After a period of pre-production and planning, the cameras have started rolling for ‘Pralay’. The film’s shoot is being underway in real life locations throughout Mumbai and its vicinity. In parallel, as filmmakers bring a large canvas on screens, they also attempt to bring authenticity and grit to the narrative in this extreme setting.

Kalyani Priyadarshan is a familiar face in the industry, and in the past, has starred in projects such as Lokah Chapter One: Chandra and other commercially successful ventures across Indian regional cinema.

Helmed by Jai Mehta

‘Pralay’ is being directed by Jai Mehta, who was previously a co-director alongside Hansal Mehta on the super-hit web series Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, he has also directed Lootere as part of the same banner. He brings his vision for large-scale cinema with this epic.

Ranveer Singh is not just leading the cast but is also producing ‘Pralay’. The film is being bankrolled by Birla Studios, True Story Films, and Maa Kasam Films, a production house owned by Ranveer Singh. Ananya Birla, Hansal Mehta, Sahil Saigal, and Ranveer Singh are producing the project.

For Ranveer Singh, 'Pralay' is an exciting departure from his recent action avatars.
