Rohit Shetty is gearing up to bring audiences the fifth chapter of his blockbuster Golmaal series. This time, the filmmaker is raising the stakes with a bigger, more extravagant production. The new instalment, Golmaal 5, will feature superstar Akshay Kumar joining the ensemble cast, adding fresh energy to the comedy franchise. Akshay Kumar has officially come on board for Golmaal 5, and director Rohit Shetty couldn’t be more thrilled. Sharing the announcement, Shetty reflected on the journey of the franchise, recalling how the very first Golmaal—released two decades ago—transformed his career.
He expressed heartfelt gratitude to audiences, acknowledging both the highs and the occasional lows, while emphasizing the honesty behind his team’s work. “Twenty years ago, Golmaal released and changed my life. The credit goes to you, my audience. Over the years, we’ve entertained you, sometimes even let you down, but we’ve always stayed true to our craft. Now, as we begin filming G5, my incredible team and I are ready to entertain you once again. Your love and support have carried me this far, and all I ask for now are your blessings. See you at the movies,” Shetty wrote, tagging his production partners

The promo for Golmaal 5 brought together Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu, and Tusshar Kapoor, all joining in to welcome Sharman Joshi back into the fold. But the real twist came with the reveal of Akshay Kumar as the newest member of the franchise.
Ajay Devgn, reacting to Akshay’s entry, joked, “Koi bhi franchise nahi chhodta” (no one ever leaves a franchise). The teaser also gave fans a glimpse of Akshay’s look in the film—sporting a bald head, dressed in a black kurta-pyjama, and rocking dark sunglasses.
Marking the occasion, Akshay shared his excitement on Instagram with a special birthday wish for Rohit Shetty: “Happy Birthday @itsrohitshetty. On your birthday, the madness just got bigger and louder. Thrilled to be part of this crazy Golmaal family! Let the chaos begin!
