Ayushmann Khurrana & Sara Ali Khan Kick Off Spy Comedy Backed by Karan Johar, Guneet Monga

In April 2024, Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan grabbed attention when reports revealed they were joining forces for a Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment venture. Reports later confirmed that filming had begun in May 2024. Yet, after the initial excitement, the project quietly slipped out of the spotlight. Buzz suggested that production was paused following the completion of its first schedule.

The much-talked-about project seems to have regained momentum. As per Mid-Day, significant progress has been made over the past two months. Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan recently wrapped up a lengthy shooting schedule in Mumbai this February, which is said to have featured a grand song sequence. The film marks the directorial debut of Aakash Kaushik and is being jointly produced by Karan Johar and Guneet Monga.

A source told the portal that the track, titled ‘Jai Hind’, is set against Delhi’s Independence Day celebrations. To capture the grandeur of the parade, over 700 dancers and junior artistes were brought in. Producers Karan Johar and Guneet Monga envisioned a vibrant, patriotic number on a lavish scale to enhance the spy comedy’s appeal. The song plays a pivotal role in the narrative, with Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan completing the shoot in just two days.

According to the report, the team still needs to shoot an end-credit song before director Aakash Kaushik can call it a wrap. The makers are said to be targeting a mid-2026 release. That said, the film has yet to be officially announced. With production now gaining pace, an announcement is expected in the coming months.
