Mumbai: Amidst the 2020 ahKhan death case investigation, actress Rhea Chakraborty had endured a harrowing phase of her life. In a recent conversation with Farah Khan, the actress shared that her family faced major struggles – both socially and professionally – following Sushant’s passing. According to Rhea, at the time her brother Showik was denied IIM admission despite scoring 97 percentile in CAT, their father was denied an important hospital job, and she didn't get film offers.

Rhea elaborated that her life with brother Showik changed post her release from jail and they were confined to homes, unable to find work opportunities.

“We weren’t getting film offers and Showik also wasn’t getting a corporate job. So then it felt like the society had ‘cancelled’ us,” Rhea stated.

Missed IIM admission despite 97 percentile CAT score

Shedding light on brother Showik, the ‘Chehre’ actress revealed he has a 97 percentile in CAT, IIM admission (fees were paid too) which he eventually could not pursue after 2020.

Rhea said, “Showik lost a few years of his life, could not get a job and then we thought why don’t we do a brand ourselves, since you know we can’t work for someone else. It felt like, why am I getting cancelled?”

Job-related issues alleged for father too

Rhea made another serious allegation regarding her father stating that the latter was set to be appointed as Medical Superintendent at a hospital but had to forgo the opportunity when his surname was recognized.

The actress stated that her family was victimised during the time of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.

‘Chapter 2’ as next step after a difficult phase

Amidst all the difficulties, Rhea and Showik eventually teamed up for an apparel brand ‘Chapter 2’.

According to Rhea, Chapter 2marked a new chapter in her life. Apart from returning to the entertainment industry, she is working for her business and other ventures.

Rhea Chakraborty faced controversies after Sushant’s death

Following the sudden death of Sushant Singh Rajput in June 2020, Rhea Chakraborty along with her brother Showik came under scrutiny and the latter was even arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with a drug-related investigation. Later, Rhea slowly made a comeback in the media. Rhea’s interview has again brought back discussions of that phase in 2020.
