Mamta Kulkarni reacts to Mahira Sharma's 'Ranaji 2.0': 'The original is etched in people’s minds

Rakesh Roshan's ‘Karan Arjun’ gave audiences the unforgettable track "Mujhko Ranaji Maaf Karna," which has now been revived as "Ranaji 2.0," starring Mahira Sharma and choreographed by Remo D'Souza. The original song, voiced by Alka Yagnik and Ila Arun and filmed on Mamta Kulkarni, continues to be one of the most beloved numbers from the 1995 film, which also starred Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Kajol.

Mamta Kulkarni reflected on Mahira Sharma’s version of the song, noting that while Sharma delivered it well, the contrast in presentation makes it striking. “The original was performed in ghagra choli with traditional Indian dance moves, and now it’s reimagined in a western style with modern outfits. That difference naturally makes it stand out. But the earlier track is so deeply imprinted in people’s memories that it instantly comes to mind when you watch the new one,” she shared with Variety India.
