2002 revisited at Lord's, Indian Mixed Disability XI beats England by 118 runs
New Delhi: The iconic Lord's ground celebrated the glory and pride of the 2002 Indian cricket triumph once again, as the Indian Mixed Disability XI defeated England by 118 runs in the final 7th T20 match on Lord's balcony to recreate the historic 2002 Indian win celebration after Sourav Ganguly.
Set up target of 207 by Indian XI
Earlier, the Indian XI had put 206 runs on the scoreboard within the given 20 overs, owing to the scintillating innings of the vice-captain Arjun Gavare, who scored 68, whereas the captain Majid Magray played and astonishing knock of 63 off 19 balls.
Replying to the mammoth total by the Indians, the English batsmen completely crumbled against the Indian bowlers and were all out at 88 within 20 overs, with Hilal Ahmed Wani and Jayesh Parmar taking 4 wickets and 3 wickets respectively. The Indian side registered an incredible victory by 118 runs.
Remembering 2002
After the jubilant win, the whole Indian team and officials gathered at Lord's balcony to recreate the 2002 victory scene in their winning moment where the captain Sourav Ganguly waved his jacket at Lord's after the 2002 NatWest trophy final when India had triumphed over England. Later the team had removed their coats and with waving jerseys celebrated their victory at Lord's balcony with the tricolour and thus had recreated the joyous sight of 2002. The video is going viral.
However, England wins the 7-match Mixed Disability T20 International series 4-3 and it was the win at Lord's with an margin of 118 runs that made it truly remarkable for the Indian team in the final 7th match.
