The new rules State Bank of India (SBI) has made a major change in the rules of its basic savings account (Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account). From October 1, 2026, an additional charge will be imposed on customers for more than four cash withdrawals from SBI’s Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account every month.
Under the new rule, BSBD account holders will get a total of 4 free cash withdrawals from all the SBI and other banks' ATMs within a month and also from the banking branch and for this, there will be no charge from the bank. 5th cash withdrawal- 'For every additional cash withdrawal from the date October 1, 2026 after fourth cash withdrawal, the service charge ofRs 15 plus GST will be charged on the account,' the bank has said.
Change in the way free withdrawal is calculated Key Changes For Customers Before, there was no limit on digital transactions, but under new rules, digital transactions will also be considered part of the 4 free withdrawals.
This include all cash withdrawals through SBIs ATM and other banks ATMs and through the banking branch, as well as for digital payment transactions like AEPS.
What is a basic savings account?
State Bank of India's Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account aims to provide a simple savings account to every customer who does not want to maintain a minimum balance. Through this account, you get standard banking facilities.
Money can be withdrawn either by filling out a withdrawal form in a bank branch or by using ATM.
SBI has given a basic RuPay ATM cum debit card but you do not get a checkbook with it.
