Anurag Kashyap, Nikkhil Advani, Motwane & Vasan Bala-backed Dug Dug set for May 8 India release

Ritwik Pareek’s comedy‑mystery satire Dug Dug is gearing up for its India release on May 8, after winning praise at international film festivals. Ahead of its theatrical debut, the film has secured the support of acclaimed filmmakers Anurag Kashyap, Nikkhil Advani, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Vasan Bala, who have joined as executive producers to back the project.

Ritwik Pareek’s satirical comedy‑mystery Dug Dug is set to hit Indian theatres on May 8, following its acclaimed journey across international film festivals. The film now enjoys the support of leading filmmakers Anurag Kashyap, Nikkhil Advani, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Vasan Bala, who have stepped in as executive producers ahead of its domestic release.

Inspired by real events, Dug Dug unfolds in a village where a deceased man’s motorbike becomes an object of worship, believed to grant wishes when devotees pray and offer alcohol. As word spreads of miracles, the phenomenon evolves into a commercialised religion.

Produced by Bottle Rocket Pictures, led by Prerna Pareek and Ritwik Pareek, the film will be released in India in association with Ranjan Singh’s Flip Films.

Anurag Kashyap praised the film’s “storytelling, cinematography and music,” calling it “a visual rave,” while Vikramaditya Motwane described it as “a fantastic and genuine Indian story told with irreverence and humour.”

After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2021, Dug Dug travelled to prestigious platforms including Santa Barbara, Melbourne, Los Angeles, MAMI Mumbai, and Kerala International Film Festival, earning widespread appreciation before its long‑awaited theatrical debut in India.
